習近平表示，祝賀你們訪華取得成功，很高興看到匹克球這項運動成為中美兩國青少年交流的新紐帶。中美關係的未來在青年，希望你們做兩國友好的新一代使者，為增進兩國人民友誼作出更大貢獻。

此前，美國馬利蘭州蒙哥馬利郡青少年匹克球文化交流訪華團師生向習近平主席致信，感謝習近平主席提出“5年5萬”倡議，介紹今年4月他們訪華並開展匹克球交流的經歷，表示此行同中國青少年朋友結下了難忘的友誼，希望邀請中國青少年到美國訪問。
