With the implementation of strategies such as the large-scale development of western China, the revitalization of northeastern China, the rise of central China and the pioneering role of the eastern region in innovation-driven development, the regional development layout in the country tends to be balanced and coordinated. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012, on the basis of the comprehensive advancement of the overall regional development strategy for western, northeastern, central and eastern China, major national strategies such as the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Yangtze River Delta, the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River basin have been implemented one after another, yielding a series of positive results and pushing coordinated regional development to a high level.
We will thoroughly implement the coordinated regional development strategy, major regional strategies, the functional zoning strategy, and the new urbanization strategy. We will improve the distribution of the major productive forces and develop a regional economic layout and a territorial space system that complement each other's strengths and promote high-quality development.

By the end of 2024, the urbanization rate of the national permanent residents was 67%, an increase of 0.84 percentage points over the end of the previous year.

The GDP of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region was 11,539.4 billion yuan, an increase of 5.2% over the previous year.
The GDP in the Yangtze River Economic Belt was 63,022.8 billion yuan, up by 5.4% year-on-year.
The GDP of the Yangtze River Delta region was 33,169.1 billion yuan, an increase of 5.5% from the previous year.
New achievements were made in the implementation of major regional development strategies such as the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin.
