Thanks to considerable economic growth

the Chinese people are living much better lives

Nonetheless, we are soberly aware that

to meet people's aspiration for an even better life

滿足人民對美好生活的嚮往

we still have much hard work to do in the long run

還要進行長期艱苦的努力

China has made it clear that we strive for

more visible and substantive progress in the well-rounded development of individuals and

the common prosperity of the entire population

全體人民共同富裕取得更為明顯的實質性進展

We are working hard on all fronts to deliver this goal

將為此在各方面進行努力

The common prosperity we desire is not egalitarianism

中國要實現共同富裕，但不是搞平均主義

To use an analogy, we will first make the pie bigger

而是要先把“蛋糕”做大

and then divide it properly through reasonable institutional arrangements

然後通過合理的制度安排把“蛋糕”分好

As a rising tide lifts all boats, everyone will get a fair share from development

水漲船高、各得其所

and development gains will benefit all our people in a more substantial and equitable way

Since the very day of its founding, the CPC has made seeking happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation its aspiration and mission. Since the 18th CPC National Congress, the Party Central Committee with Xi Jinping at the core has adhered to the principle of placing top priority on people’s wellbeing and rallied and led Chinese people to constantly improve their living standards.

China’s gross domestic product (GDP) reached 114 trillion yuan, growing 8.1 percent

National fiscal revenue exceeded 20 trillion yuan, growing 10.7 percent

A total of 12.69 million urban jobs were added, and the average surveyed unemployment rate stood at 5.1 percent

The consumer price index (CPI) rose by 0.9 percent

Per capita income from policy-based living allowances grew by 14.6% year on year.
