——深化文明交流互鑒，共建亞洲命運共同體

——Create an Asian Community of Shared Future Through Mutual Learning

《習近平談治國理政》第三卷生動記錄了黨的十九大以來習近平總書記在領導推進新時代治國理政實踐中發表的一系列重要論述，全面系統反映了習近平新時代中國特色社會主義思想，集中展示了馬克思主義中國化的最新成果。關於攜手構建人類命運共同體，總書記這樣説：

The third volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China vividly records a series of important statements and speeches made by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, based on his experiences in state governance in the new era since the 19th CPC National Congress in 2017. It fully and systematically reflects Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and demonstrates the latest achievements in the Sinicization of Marxism. As for a Global Community of Shared Future, General Secretary Xi said: 

文明因多樣而交流，因交流而互鑒，因互鑒而發展。

Diversity spurs interaction among civilizations, which in turn promotes mutual learning and further development. 

我們要加強世界上不同國家、不同民族、不同文化的交流互鑒，

We need to promote exchanges and mutual learning among countries, nations and cultures around the world, 

夯實共建亞洲命運共同體、人類命運共同體的人文基礎。

and strengthen popular support for a community of shared future for both Asia and humanity as a whole.

為此，我願提出4點主張。

To that end, I believe it is imperative that we take the following actions:

第一，堅持相互尊重、平等相待。

First, we need to respect each other and treat each other as equals.

每一種文明都紮根于自己的生存土壤，

All civilizations are rooted in their unique cultural environment. 

凝聚著一個國家、一個民族的非凡智慧和精神追求，都有自己存在的價值。

Each embodies the wisdom and vision of a country or nation, and each is valuable for being unique itself. 

人類只有膚色語言之別，文明只有姹紫嫣紅之別，

Civilizations vary from each other only as human beings differ in terms of skin color and the language used.

但絕無高低優劣之分。

No civilization is superior to others. 

認為自己的人種和文明高人一等，執意改造甚至取代其他文明，在認識上是愚蠢的，

It is foolhardy to think that one's own race and civilization are superior and to insist on remolding or replacing other civilizations. 

在做法上是災難性的！

To act these out will only have catastrophic consequences.

如果人類文明變得只有一個色調、一個模式了，那這個世界就太單調了，也太無趣了！

If world civilizations are reduced to one single color or one single model, the world will become monolithic and a dull place to live. 

我們應該秉持平等和尊重，摒棄傲慢和偏見，

What we need is to respect each other as equals and say no to hubris and prejudice. 

加深對自身文明和其他文明差異性的認知，

We need a deeper understanding of the differences between our own civilizations and others, 

推動不同文明交流對話、和諧共生。

and we must work to promote interaction, dialogue and harmony among civilizations.

第二，堅持美人之美、美美與共。

Second, we need to uphold the beauty of each civilization and the diversity of civilizations around the world. 

每一種文明都是美的結晶，都彰顯著創造之美。

Each civilization is the crystallization of human creation, and each is beautiful in its own way.

一切美好的事物都是相通的。人們對美好事物的嚮往，

An aspiration for all that is beautiful is common to all humanity, 

是任何力量都無法阻擋的！

and nothing can hold it back. 

各種文明本沒有衝突，只是要有欣賞所有文明之美的眼睛。

Civilizations do not have to clash with each other; what is needed is to see the beauty in all civilizations with eyes.

我們既要讓本國文明充滿勃勃生機，又要為他國文明發展創造條件，

We should keep our own civilizations dynamic and create conditions for other civilizations to flourish. 

讓世界文明百花園群芳競艷。

Together we can make the garden of world civilizations more colorful and vibrant.

第三，堅持開放包容、互學互鑒。

Third, we need to stay open and inclusive and draw on each other's strengths. 

一切生命有機體都需要新陳代謝，否則生命就會停止。

All living organisms must renew themselves through metabolism; otherwise, life would come to an end. 

文明也是一樣，如果長期自我封閉，必將走向衰落。

The same is true for civilizations. Long-term self-imposed isolation will cause a civilization to decline, 

交流互鑒是文明發展的本質要求。

while exchanges and mutual learning will sustain it. 

只有同其他文明交流互鑒、取長補短，才能保持旺盛生命活力。

A civilization can flourish only through exchanges and mural learning with other civilizations. 

文明交流互鑒應該是對等的、平等的，應該是多元的、多向的，

Such exchanges and mutual learning should be reciprocal, equal-footed, diverse, and multidimensional; 

而不應該是強制的、強迫的，不應該是單一的、單向的。

they should not be coercive, imposed, one-dimensional, or one-way. 

我們應該以海納百川的寬廣胸懷打破文化交往的壁壘，

We need to be broad-minded and strive to remove all barriers to cultural exchanges.

以兼收並蓄的態度汲取其他文明的養分，促進亞洲文明在交流互鑒中共同前進。

We need to be inclusive and always seek nourishment from other civilizations to promote the common development of Asian civilizations through exchanges and mutual learning.

第四、堅持與時俱進、創新發展。

Fourth, we need to advance with the times and explore new ground.

文明永續發展，既需要薪火相傳、代代守護，

To sustain a civilization, it must be kept vibrant and built on its heritage from one generation to the next. 

更需要順時應勢、推陳出新。

More importantly, a civilization needs to adapt itself to the changing times and break new ground. 

世界文明歷史揭示了一個規律：任何一種文明都要與時偕行，不斷吸納時代精華。

The history of world civilizations tells us that every civilization needs to advance with the times and take in the best of its age in order to progress.

我們應該用創新增添文明發展動力、激活文明進步的源頭活水，

We need to come up with new ideas to add impetus and inspiration to our civilizations. 

不斷創造出跨越時空、富有永恒魅力的文明成果。

Through these efforts we will deliver achievements for our civilizations to transcend time and space and endure.

未來之中國，必將以更加開放的姿態擁抱世界、以更有活力的文明成就貢獻世界。

in times to come, China will open its arms wider to embrace the world and contribute the dynamic achievements of Chinese civilization to a better world.
