Xiaolian village is a classical garden architecture which was built during the reign of Qing Emperor Guangxu.It belongs to the private garden,home temple and the Yizhuang village of Nanxun's richest man Liu Yong(style name:Guanjing).It is located in the west of the Long Valley Bridge,Nanzha Town,Huzhou City,Zhejiang Province.It is adjacent to Zhegu River in the north and is opposite the river with the Jiayetang Library.The garden takes the lotus pond as the center,and the mountains and water are built according to the terrain to form the inner and outer gardens.

The inner garden is a garden park,located in the southeast corner of the outer park,with mountains as the main body.Imitate of the meaning of the Tang Dynasty poet Du Mu's "mountain line",Liu Yong ordered people to dig the pond to plant the lotus leaves,and stack stones into the mountains.The mountain road is curved and small.Green pines and red maples each take up half of the mountain.These made it look like a big bonsai.This park is separated from the outer park by a powder wall,but there also are leaky windows that connect to the outer park.Inside and outside the park,mountains and lakes are in harmony.

The outer park is centered on lotus pond whose total area of about ten acres.Along the pool, the pavilions are decorated.With the shift of footsteps,the scenery has become different.This is really ingenious.The main building on the south bank of the lotus pond is “Tuixiu waterside”.It is built next to the pond and is a boutique of Jiangnan waterside construction because of the exquisite design.The corridor of the waterside connects”Xinyang Dezhai”which is the master’s study.Because of the planting of bananas in the courtyard,it is also known as the "Banana Hall."On the south side of the lotus pond,there is a hundred years of wisteria.It seems like a lying dragon coils reaching to the sky.With luxuriant foliage,it reaches the top of Wuqu bridge.Every flowering season,it is like a purple ribbon hanging around the top of the bridge.It’s very beautiful.

The Dongsheng Pavilion, the taller building on the west bank of the lotus pond,is a Western-style building,commonly known as the “Miss Building”.The interior is decorated with carved cylinders and the fireplace is heated.The outside of the window is shaded with blinds.It is a French architectural style and has a rich exoticism.In the West Bank,there is also a building called“Jingxiang Shiku”,which is the place where the owner and men of letters recite poems and sing.

Liu’s family temple is the main building complex of Xiaolian village,separated from the garden promenade by a wall.The temple was built in 1888 and was completed in 1897.It is the place where Liu’s family to worship their ancestors.The temple faces south.In the main hall,a piece of gold plaque called“Chenxian Muzu” which was given by Qing emperor Xuantong is hanged to show Liu's glory.(Promotion)
