Bailian temple is an old temple, located in the north of Shijing pond of Wuzhen ten, the west of Tianjin lane.The local people love to call it the West pagoda, which is due to that it is on the opposite side of Shousheng pagoda. So there are East pagoda and West pagoda on the town.

Bailian pagoda originally called Jinlian yard, and called Bailian temple later, which was built in the Northern Song Dynasty Chongning years (1102 - 1106).It belongs to the pavilion style tower brick mixed structure which was popular in Jiangzhe in song and Yuan dynasties.Looking at the tower, the appearance of the tower is shuttle - shaped, and the plane of the tower is actually square. The bottom of the tower is a twenty-four by twenty-four square. The ground was paved with brick.The whole body of the whole tower is gradually drawn up from the first floor.At the height of the height, the scenery of the canal and Wuzhen is full of sight. At night, the tower is illuminated by the light of the body.

The introduction of Buddhism in Wuzhen was early, and there had been a certain scale of temple architecture in the South Liang dynasty. There are 53 temples in the history of Wuzhen.
