10月13日，2017第八屆環太湖國際公路自行車賽湖州——長興賽段開賽，來自世界五大洲的25支參賽車隊，其中8支洲際職業隊和17支洲際隊，約130名職業自行車運動員展開激烈角逐。

　　據了解，環太湖賽是以地域特徵“太湖”命名的國際公路自行車賽事，旨在推進“長三角”概念和展現“江、湖、河、海”豐富的地域特徵，是江浙兩省政府重點打造的國際品牌賽事。

It is understood that the international cycling race game of Taihu Lake is named after geographical features of "Taihu", aims to promote the concept of "Yangtze River Delta" and show the regional characteristics of rich "river, lake and sea", is an international brand competition what Jiangsu and Zhejiang provincial government focus on.

　　本屆賽事總長139.5公里，級別為UCI2.1。比賽中，選手們充分發揮體育競技精神，為當地的老百姓展現了賽道上的“速度與激情”。

　　從2012年，浙江省與江蘇省的體育部門等相關單位已成功舉辦了五屆環太湖賽。湖州市便利的交通條件和優美的生態環境，非常適合公路自行車賽及馬拉松等景觀型體育賽事的舉辦。
