As COVID-19 continues to spread worldwide, 49 countries have reported more than 6,000 confirmed cases in the African continent, as on April 2. The epidemic prevention and control situation is grim. A COVID-19 prevention and control international remote video training was conducted at West China Hospital, Sichuan University with Maputo Central Hospital, Mozambique on April 3. Experts from West China Hospital shared their experiences on the development, trend and characteristics of the COVID-19 epidemic situation as well as the organization, management and clinical treatment of epidemic situation.

"In many parts of Africa, there is a trend of gradual spread. At this time, if we provide them with some good experience, it will help them greatly,” said Liu Lunxu, vice president of West China Hospital. He added, "We had developed a process of understanding the COVID-19 disease right at the beginning. And if we can share this process of understanding with Africa, we believe that it can help them control the epidemic well. "

At the remote video training meeting, experts from West China Hospital held a special training session on organization and management of medical treatment for epidemic prevention and control, management of COVID-19 infected medical staff and patients and COVID-19 diagnosis and treatment. Experts from West China Hospital and Maputo Central Hospital have discussed the safety of anesthesiologists, biological safety of operation room, flow chart of isolation area and personal protective equipment for medical personnel in ICU.
In the future, West China Hospital will continue to share anti-epidemic experience with experts of Maputo Central Hospital and contribute China's experience to the maintenance of public health and safety in Mozambique.
