On September 28, Xiaomi Corporation, China’s second-largest smartphone brand, signed a deal with the Hainan Government. The two sides seek to deepen cooperation in the fields of financial technology, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, and headquarters economy.

On that morning, Liu Cigui, Secretary of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, met with Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi Corporation in Haikou. Liu Cigui stated that Hainan has always attached great importance to the development of the Internet industry. Meanwhile, the government will continue to promote the construction of infrastructure, the"Smart Hainan" Plan, international submarine cables, and global communications service gateways, in a bid to vigorously develop the digital economy, facilitate the safe and orderly flow of data, and create good conditions for the open development of various enterprises.

Lei Jun said that the development strategy of Xiaomi fits in with the future development direction of the Hainan Free Trade Port in many aspects, adding that Xiaomi expects to better participate in the construction of the Free Trade Port and achieve mutual benefits based on the newly signed deal between the two sides.
