Flowers in full bloom everywhere in main districts of Chongqing
After the Lantern Festival, the season for flower viewing gradually begins everywhere. According to data released by Ctrip.com, the search trend for the keyword“flower viewing” on the platform increased by 280% month-on-month at the end of February, and the number of people booking flower viewing spots recently increased by 115% compared to 2019. Chongqing Nanshan Botanical Garden has become one of the most popular flower viewing destinations that have been rising in popularity in China recently.

As spring returns, cross-province tours, which have been inactive all winter, are also seeing a rebound. Data shows that the number of people booking group tours in late February was 104% higher than in January. Demand for mid- to high-end trips has exploded, with statistics showing that the number of people who signed up for private tours in March was up 120% compared to the same period in 2019 (up to February 28).
Post-holiday airfare reductions have added momentum to flower-viewing and outing tourism. Data shows that the average price of an economy class airfare excluding taxes in March 2021 is 503 yuan, down about 20% compared to the same period in 2019.

Among the popular routes, Sanya-Shanghai, Shanghai-Sanya, Sanya-Beijing, Shanghai-Chengdu, Beijing-Sanya, Shanghai-Guangzhou, Guangzhou-Shanghai, Shanghai-Shenzhen, Chengdu-Shanghai and Shanghai-Harbin ranked in the top 10.
