滕霄是一位有著深厚學院藝術功底和修養的藝術家，從他的人體創作中便可明顯地感受這一點；與此同時，滕霄的風景畫卻有是另一番景象，充滿著表現主義的沉重和內心釋放。前者可能源於他在中國美院、解放軍藝術學院和天津美院的專業訓練，但即便是在這些“學院派”的藝術創作中，他也無法掩蓋自己強烈的情緒，略帶變形的人體、姿態、佈局和觀察角度賦予了畫面一種主觀化的理解，而非標準的客觀呈現。正是如此，《世紀末的情人》系列才可能牽動觀眾們在現代生活中焦躁的神經

Teng Xiao is an artist with a profound academic background of both knowledge and cultivation, which from his creation of the human body we can feel clearly; at the same time, his paintings of landscape are of other stories, full of expressionist heaviness and the release of hearts. The former one may be due to the professional trainings he received at the China Academy of Art, People's Liberation Army Academy of Arts and Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, but even in these "academic" works of art, he can not cover up his own strong emotions, for under his brush the slightly deformed body, gesture, layout and observation angle all grant the screen a subjective understanding, rather than an objective standard. In this case, "lover at end of the century" series are able to affect the restless nerves of audiences in a modern life.
