    紅門畫廊將於5月23日舉辦《個性——來自四川和重慶的新藝術》藝術作品展。此次展覽將以聯展的形式聚焦于來自四川和重慶的藝術新秀的作品，屆時將展出使用多種不同介質的藝術作品，其中還將包括一些實驗作品。

    “早在今年1月份早期當我訪問重慶和成都的時候，我就在尋找一些新的視覺作品希望能帶回北京。”紅門畫廊藝術總監裴大利表示，“我被這些藝術新秀精湛嫺熟的技法所打動，更令我感到震撼的他們作品之中個人視覺的獨特性元素。”裴大利更指出其中一些作品風格已經在主導中國當代藝術風潮：“市場的改變已經為新秀們的登場做好了準備，而這些藝術新秀不拘泥于既成風格和模式的藝術態度實在令人驚嘆。”

    紅門畫廊總監華萊士對此次展覽充滿熱情：“經濟動蕩毫無疑問地給我們帶來了影響，但與此同時，我們創新的能力將給我們帶來更多的觀眾。由此而言，在當前形勢下紅門畫廊為這些年輕的藝術新秀們提供一個展示平臺就顯得尤為重要。

    本次展覽將於5月23日在東便門角樓紅門畫廊開幕，開幕招待會將在下午3點至5點進行。

    RED GATE SHOWS NEW ART FROM SICHUAN AND CHONGQING

    BEIJING April 11, 2009—Red Gate Gallery will open Individual: New Art from Sichuan and Chongqing on Saturday, May 23, 2009. The exhibition will be a group show predominantly featuring new artists from southwest China and will feature a wide variety of media and experimental projects.

    “When I visited Chongqing and Chengdu in early January, I was looking for fresh work to bring back to Beijing,” says Tally Beck, director at Red Gate. “I was first impressed by the technical virtuosity of many of these young artists, but the element that really astonished me was the uniqueness of their individual visions.” Beck notes that a few movements have stylistically dominated the Chinese contemporary art scene: “Changes in the market have set the stage for new voices. It’s amazing how these younger artists are so dismissive of the established formulas.”

    Brian Wallace, Director of Red Gate, is enthusiastic about the project: “We are definitely seeing the silver lining of this economic shakeup. Our efforts to stay innovative seem to excite a larger, wider audience. As important though, is the chance for Red Gate to exhibit these new and younger artists at this time.”

    The opening reception will be held at the Watchtower on Saturday, May 23 from

    3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
