Nobel Laureates and Academicians Gather Attend World Young Scientist Summit Health Forum

Wenzhou announced the construction of the"Fibroblast Growth Factor City" at the 2024 World Young Scientist Summit International Forum on Comprehensive Health Care held at Wenzhou Medical University on November 16. 

The forum also doubled as the International Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration Conference on Biomedical Innovation and Translation.

The"Fibroblast Growth Factor City" project aims to create a world-class innovation hub of fibroblast growth factors.

This forum, themed"Technology Leads Healthy Future,"gathered Nobel Prize winner, 10 domestic and international academicians, over 60 foreign guests, more than 50 national-level talents, as well as young scientists and entrepreneurs at Wenzhou Medical University. They weighed in on scientific and technological innovation, industry demand, and economic development, and discussed ways to deep integration of industry, academia, research, and application in the field of health sciences.

Overseas experts and professors were appointed as consultants for the construction of the"Fibroblast Growth Factor City" at the forum.

At the forum, Hartmut Michel, the Nobel Prize laureate in chemistry, and Ji Xunming, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Vice President of Capital Medical University, gave keynote speeches, providing in-depth insights into the latest frontiers of biomedicine. 

"This is my second time coming to Wenzhou for the world young scientist conference," said Hartmut Michel in an interview at the conference."Wenzhou's effort to build a fibroblast growth factor city reflects the city's high regard for scientific research."

The forum also featured signing ceremonies for the cooperation between Wenzhou Medical University and Oujiang Laboratory as well as industry-academia-research cooperation between Wenzhou Medical University, Ouhai District People's Government, and 11 companies including Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical. 

At the forum, the Wenzhou Medical University Industry-Education Integration Training Base was inaugurated, alongside an appointment ceremony for joint training of doctoral supervisors from China and abroad. 

These events aim to explore innovative paths to the deep integration of industry, academia, research, and application, accelerate the commercialization of sci-tech achievements, and jointly help to build a hub of talent cultivation, technological innovation, and achievement transformation.

Jin Huanmin, Secretary of the Communist Party of China Committee of Wenzhou Medical University, said,"We hope that the leaders and experts attending the meeting will stimulate innovation in open communication, stir the power of wisdom in the exchange of ideas, explore ways to integrate industry, academia, research, and application in the field of health, and contribute new ideas and vitality to the university's scientific and technological innovation and health endeavors."

The Great Health Forum, one of the highest-level events in China's health field, has been held at Wenzhou Medical University for five consecutive years since 2020. The forum focuses on cutting-edge topics such as the cultivation of innovative talent in medicine, the integration of industry, academia, research, and medical care in biomedicine, and the transformation of the health industry, playing an active role in the cultivation of professionals in medicine and academic exchanges in health.
