Yueqing, Cangnan rated as provincial night-time economy model cities

Recently, Wenzhou’s Yueqing City and Cangnan County were rated as provincial night-time economy model cities on the List of Provincial High-Quality Consumption Clusters for 2023 released by the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province.

Since last year, Yueqing has taken the opportunity of being selected as a provincial night-time economy pilot cultivating city to develop a night-time economic space layout with the“Binhai-Xuyang Shopping Area as the core and various commercial complexes and blocks as circles”, focusing on building the Super Brand Mall Moonlight Economic Street, the Songhu Lifang Night-time Consumption Characteristic Street, the Nanhong Plaza Leisure and Entertainment Block, the Jiangnanli Commercial and Cultural Tourism Block, the Tianyuan Square Leisure and Entertainment Consumption Cluster Area, the Modern Plaza Moonlight Economic Consumption Cluster Area and other urban night-time economy areas. A solid foundation has thus been laid for the conventionalization of Yueqing’s night-time economy. At present, the momentum for the development of the city’s night-time economy is promising, and its night-time appearance has been significantly improved. The vitality of night-time consumption has become increasingly prominent, driving its night-time consumption and demand to grow rapidly.

Through planning and project promotion, Cangnan has cultivated the Intime Shopping Area Night Entertainment Block, the Rengong Lake Shopping Area Night Tours Block, the Renying Road Pedestrian Street Night Shopping Block, the People’s Park Night Snacks Block and other featured blocks, and has held characteristic events in the Zaoxi Old Street, the Xiaguan Local Customs Street, the Fanshan Fudewan Old Street and other streets, injecting vitality into the development of the night-time economy. In the first three quarters of 2023, the tourist flow in Cangnan reached 15.3687 million people, of which 3.2 million were night-time tourists, accounting for more than 20% of its visitors. Based on its night-time economic clusters, the county will carry out a series of night-themed activities, such as the Siji Pomelo Night, the Beach Music Night, the Car Night, etc., to ensure that“themes can be deployed every month; activities held every week; and highlights achieved in each activity,” making its moonlight economic brand (the Night of the Southern Gate of Zhejiang) become a“golden business card” for night-time consumption in southern Zhejiang and northern Fujian.

In addition, the Wutian Old Street in Ouhai District was rated as one of the provincial high-quality pedestrian streets on the List. So far, Wenzhou has created five provincial night-time economy model cities and four provincial high-quality pedestrian streets.(ZhongXin)
