Fox fur is a long-haired thick and dense fur. It comes in many types, with upwards of 20 different natural colours. Fox farmers raise both blue and silver foxes. The blue foxes are found naturally in a blue and a white variant. The silver foxes are found in many colour variations, from almost black to very light grey/white and from brown hues to red.

狐狸皮具有毛長和絨密的特點。狐狸皮有多種類型，按顏色劃分則多達20種，包括深淺不同的黑色，紅色，棕色和白色。現在狐狸養殖戶培育出藍狐和銀狐。藍狐皮自然狀態下呈現的顏色在藍色和白色之間變化。銀狐皮的顏色在近乎黑和極淺的灰色（或者白色）之間變化，還有的銀狐皮顏色在棕色調和紅色之間變化。

Fox furs are longer and more easily recognizable than any other type of fur, and fox fur is therefore a treasured material for trimmings, accessories and fur fashion. A certain amount of natural shedding should be expected because of the length and thickness of the hair.

狐狸皮的毛針比其他品種的明顯要長，非常容易辨認。因此狐狸皮是適合用於花邊裝飾、配飾設計以及皮草時尚的珍貴布料。受到毛針長度和厚度到影響，狐狸皮到毛針會存在少量的自然脫落現象。
