Five things to do in Liupanshui, Guizhou province（6）

Go skiing (yes, really!)

With the Winter Olympics coming to China in 2022, people are becoming more interested in winter sports, especially in the north of the country. But it’s less expected in southern provinces which are hotter, therefore not usually equated with skiing and snowboarding. However, Guizhou actually has three ski slopes and I had to check out one before I left the province!

The Meihuashan Resort on Plum Blossom Hill lets you step into another world. Open as a ski resort throughout the winter, during the rest of the year it’s a mountain haven for those looking to escape the city completely, while still being only 10km away from Liupanshui.

Panoramic mountain views, a cool breeze and tree-house style cabins greet you on the mountain, with a rotating restaurant and indoor ice-skating rink thrown in for good measure. Whether you come to Guizhou in winter or not, this resort is definitely worth a visit.
