I have always been fascinated with the culture, mystery and intrigue that China afforded my imagination. These photographs are the result of my first trip to China. Using an old 1954 Kodak Brownie tourist camera I have owned since childhood I went about touring Hong Kong and parts of mainland China recording the mystery of the culture and environment that I witnessed. I chose this non-adjustable antiquated camera because I knew it would yield mysterious and somewhat undefined results propagating what my imagination presented and affording me freedom to become more immersed in the culture while photographing. This was my first trip to China.

我一直被中國的文化，神秘及引人入勝之處吸引著，成為我的想像力的資源。今次展出的作品是我首次到中國所得的成果。使用兒時已擁有而于一九五四年生産的柯達 Brownie 遊客相機，我在香港及廣東地區記錄下中國文化的奧秘及我所目睹的景象。選用了這個不能調校的古董相機，因為我深明它會産生詭密及某程度上不可定性的結果，因而使我能擴大我的想像，並擁有足夠自由在拍攝的過程中，能更溶入身處的文化之中。這展覽就是我的首次中國之旅。
