Contemporary Art Exhibition in Central China
The concept of Asia has unceasing appeared over China and all of Asia in recently years. We are seeking the direction of Asia culture with region value from various angles. For example: the "Reflective Asia" of Nanjing Triennial; the "Trans Local Motion" of Shanghai Biennale; the " Farewell to Post-Colonialism" of Guangzhou Triennial; the " Time Crevasse" of Yokohama Triennial; the " Wonder " of Singapore Biennale; the " No Theme " of Taibei Biennale; the " What is Art " of 798 Beijing Art Festival; the " Turn and Widen " of Seoul International Media Art Biennale. All of these, not only let us feel the heart beat of the fast development of Asia culture, but also sincerely put foward the question of he development of Asia culture.
Located in Central China, Henan province occupies an important position of Asia traditional culture. But under the flourishing development of the contemporary art, Henan province, as the seedbed of Chinese civilization and a most important area for traditional culture, is in a silent state. This matter gives us much food for thought. We have not found the solution in Asia Novel Art Exhihbition. We will notice the theme of the Asia Art Exhibition. It is very important for us to find the reason of Henan can't match the step of contemporary art. 1) Thousands of years of the civilization history makes it self-admiration. 2) Although it takes the fifth place of GDP last year, the economics are less developed for long time. 3) An outmoded sense henders the development of the produce forces. 4) The concept of traditional culture disdain to accept the contemporary art. With a magnanimous attitude in the culture, Henan has rendered outstanding service for the development of social, culture and economic. Now it is waiting the new culture trend of thought and the new art concept. Once the conditions are ripe, it will accept all of them. It is Henan's characteristic.
The contemporary art has the relations with humain being, and the development of the social politics, the economics and the histories. To establish the concept of the contemporary art, to complete the system of knowing and appraising the contemporary art as earlier . Henan will not keep silence for all of them. At the mean time, we may say: Asia is in Henan.
