On August 25, 2016, General Secretary Xi Jinping met all the members of the Chinese sports delegation of the 31st Olympic Games and in particular praised the Chinese Women’s Volleyball Team as the spirit they showed: the Chinese women’s volleyball team feared no one and played indomitably with their tenacious style and high level. China’s first Olympic volleyball gold medal in 12 years fully demonstrated the spirit of the Chinese women’s volleyball team. The people all over the country were very excited about it.

The Chinese women’s volleyball team was not afraid of any strong opponents and struggled mightily in the competition. During the Game, they showed superb skills and tenacious willpower. At Rio 2016 Olympic Games, the Chinese women’s volleyball team was at a disadvantage with ranking No.4 in the group test. However, beating strong opponents including Brazil, Netherlands, Serbia in the knockout round, they reached the final and won the champion after 12 years.
