全國政協十三屆三次會議于5月21日下午3點開幕。考慮到新冠肺炎疫情常態化防控要求，今年的政協會議將於5月27日閉幕，比原計劃的會期縮短了4天半。本次大會期間，全體會議和小組會議都做了壓減。

習近平強調，人民政協要通過有效工作，努力成為堅持和加強黨對各項工作領導的重要陣地、用黨的創新理論團結教育引導各族各界代表人士的重要平臺、在共同思想政治基礎上化解矛盾和凝聚共識的重要渠道。

Hi! Welcome to“About China”. In today’s program, we will talk about “Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference （CPPCC）”.

The third annual session of the 13th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference opened at 3 pm on May 21. Amid regular measures to prevent and control COVID-19, this year's session is set to conclude on May 27, four and half days shorter than previously planned. During the session, the number of plenary meetings and group meetings will be reduced.

President Xi Jinping said that the CPPCC, through effective efforts, should build itself into a key base to uphold and strengthen the Party's leadership over all areas of endeavor, a key platform to unite, educate and guide representatives of all ethnic groups and sectors with the Party's new theories, as well as a key channel to resolve disputes and build consensus on the common theoretical and political foundation.
