Dong Xiaowan, a 65-year-old from Wenzhou, became the first senior runner in her city to complete all six World Marathon Majors (Boston Marathon, London Marathon, Berlin Marathon, Chicago Marathon, New York Marathon, and Tokyo Marathon). Her latest triumph was at the 128th Boston Marathon, the oldest marathon event globally, where she finished the race in 5 hours and 45 minutes.

Dong's journey through the majors is a testament to her dedication and passion for running. A former middle- and long-distance track athlete at Wenzhou Sports School, Dong has been planting the seeds for her marathon success from a young age. Over the years, she has participated in numerous marathons across China, including multiple appearances at the Xiamen and Hangzhou Marathons.

In 2018, Dong expanded her horizons to the world stage, aiming to complete the prestigious grand slam of marathons. She witnessed history at the Berlin Marathon, where Eliud Kipchoge broke the world record. Despite the high costs associated with participating in these international events, Dong believes it's worth every penny for the unique experiences each marathon offers.

Completing the Tokyo Marathon earlier this year, Dong only had the Boston Marathon left to achieve her grand slam goal. Now, with all six majors under her belt, she earned the coveted Six Star Finisher medal, a symbol of extraordinary endurance and commitment.(ZhongXin)
