The 2024 Commemoration Ceremony for Fuxi Was Held in Tianshui, Gansu province

The commemoration ceremony for Fuxi took place in Tianshui on the morning of June 21, 2024 (Year of Jia Chen). At the same time, a joint ceremony was held in Taiwan, China to pay tribute to Fuxi, the legendary ancestor of Chinese civilization.

This ceremony consists of six rituals, which include drumming and bell ringing, solemnly reading sacrificial texts, bowing in reverence to the ancestors, performing ritual dances to announce the offering, presenting flower baskets as a tribute, and paying respects at the ancestral temple.

The position of Fuxi in the history of Chinese civilization's development is universally acknowledged, as he, with a single stroke, unveiled the celestial realms and kindled the eternal flame of enlightenment for the Chinese nation. This act laid an unshakable foundation for its enduring prosperity and flourishing over countless millennia.

Fuxi was respected by the people of his tribe and all other tribes. He not only created the bagua or Eight Trigrams but also bestowed upon humanity the wisdom of fishing and hunting, set up a basic structure of social governance, introduced the first regulations on marriage.This momentous event marked the glorious inception of human civilization and ignited an eternal flame that would illuminate the path of Chinese civilization. From that pivotal juncture onwards, the Chinese nation bid farewell to primitive barbarism and ignorance, embarking on a majestic journey towards enlightenment.

As a profound wellspring of Chinese civilization, the Fuxi culture epitomizes the celestial and terrestrial exploration, pioneering ingenuity, unwavering pursuit, and inclusive mindset. It stands as an emblematic embodiment and emotional tether universally acknowledged by the Chinese nation, while serving as a pivotal cultural heritage that unifies all Chinese people across the globe.

This year's ceremony aims at "Continuing the Chinese cultural heritage and strengthening cultural self-confidence", with the theme of "Inheriting excellent traditional Chinese culture and building a modern civilization for the Chinese nation". It commemorates the great achievements of Fuxi, the ancestor of Chinese civilization, reflects on the spirit of our great ancestors' creations, promotes creative transformation and innovative development of outstanding traditional Chinese culture, and consolidates strong spiritual power for comprehensively building a socialist modernized country and promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
