Bangladesh plans huge consumption reduction of HFCs

The Bangladeshi government has planned to reduce the consumption of hydrofluorocarbons or HFCs, a super-pollutant with huge global warming impacts, by 67.5 percent by 2025.

Bangladeshi Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin unveiled his government's plans for implementing the HFC "Phase Out Management Plan (Stage-2)" at a function in Dhaka on Sunday.

Authorities are working towards the phase-out of HFCs used in air conditioners, fire fighting and thermal foam sectors under the Montreal Protocol adopted to protect the ozone layer, he said at an event marking World Ozone Day 2023.

Bangladesh will enter a new era in the field of air cooler production through the implementation of the "Phase Out Management Plan (Stage-2)." said the minister while speaking as the chief guest.
