Perfect Conclusion of the 2023 China Huaer Conference

On June 15, the three-day 2023 China Huaer Conference in Hezheng County, Linxia Prefecture, Gansu Province, came to a perfect conclusion.

Centered around the theme of "Protection, Inheritance, Development and Communication", Linxia Prefecture hosted a cultural tourism festival during theconference. The festival featured various activities including the National Huaer Performance, field research by Huaer experts, the 4th National Huaer Academic Symposium, the promotion of cultural tourism resources and Investment Promotion Conference, as well as appreciation of local specialty cuisine at the "Hezhou Flavors - Linxia Cuisine" event.

During thec onference, Linxia Prefecture presented six high-quality tourist routes, and various counties and cities signed 19 cultural and tourism industry projects with a total investment of 3.689 billion yuan with cultural and tourism enterprises from both Gansu Province and beyond. Throughout the event, Hezheng County welcomed a total of 626,700 visitors and generated a comprehensive tourism revenue of 218 million yuan.

Huaer, a folk song genre, originated in the early Ming Dynasty and is a shared creation and enjoyment among ethnic groups such as Han, Hui, Tibetan, Dongxiang, Bao'an, Sala, Tu, Yugur, and Mongolian in the northwestern provinces of Gansu, Qinghai, and Ningxia. It is named after the metaphorical comparison of women to flowers in its lyrics. In 2004, Linxia Prefecture was honored with the title of "Hometown of Chinese Huaer" by the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association. Kangle County and Hezheng County were respectively named "Chinese Huaer Conservation Base" and "Chinese Huaer Inheritance Base" by the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association. In 2009, Huaer was included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
