"Ga Mei is the Queen of Peonies" Resonates at China-ASEAN (Nanning)
Intangible Cultural Heritage Week

From April 22 to 28, the China-ASEAN (Nanning) Intangible Cultural Heritage Week was held in Nanning, Guangxi. More than 150 intangible cultural heritage projects from 25 provinces and cities in China and 8 ASEAN countries gathered in Nanning to attend the grand event.At the opening ceremony, Ma Junwen, a Huaer singer from Linxia Prefecture, performed the Hezhou Huaer song "Ga Mei is the Queen of Peonies", resonating on the world stage.

"Ga Mei is the Queen of Peonies", as a representative song of the Songmingyan Huaer Festival, compares the girl in one's heart to the peony among flowers. It vividly expresses the perfect interpretation of "Peonies are everywhere, but they are exceptional in Hezhou" and "Huaer songs are sung all over the world, and Linxia is the hometown".The Songmingyan Huaer Festival, as a world-class intangible cultural heritage, has been included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It is a brilliant gem in the Linxia region. It not only bears the glorious mission ofing ethnic spirit, musical genes, and literary cells but also plays an important role in uniting ethnic groups, harmonizing society, enhancing local economic benefits, and revitalizing rural culture. It has received significant attention at this event, and it holds great significance for the future protection,ance, and development of the Songmingyan Huaer Festival.Ma Junwen is a member of the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association, a provincial intangible cultural heritageor of the Songmingyan Huaer Festival, a member of the Linxia Prefecture Music and Dance Association, and the chairman of the Hezheng County Musicians Association. Over the years, she has participated in various vocal competitions at the national, provincial, and county levels and has won numerous awards. She has been dedicated to theance and development of Huaer songs.
