Tianjin sweep Jiangsu to lead 1-0 in Chinese women's Volleyball Super League Fin
Defending champions Tianjin swept Jiangsu 3-0 here on Tuesday for a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three Finals of the 2021-2022 Chinese women's Volleyball Super League.
Middle blocker Yuan Xinyue had 13 kills, three blocks and one ace for game-high 17 points to lift the unbeaten Tianjin women over last season's other finalists Jiangsu 25-11, 25-20 and 25-17.
Cuban international Melissa Vargas contributed 15 points to Tianjin's 16th straight win in a row, with Li Yingying and Liu Yanhan adding 12 and 10 respectively.
Wu Han led Jiangsu with 10 points, while Chinese international and Rio Olympic champion Gong Xiangyu was held to six points.
Game 2 of the Finals takes place on Wednesday, with Tianjin needing one more victory to secure their 14th league title.
