The "AI Mission" concept has been gaining worldwide popularity and visitors to MIPCOM were loud in their praise for the original and unique show model put on by Chinese exhibitors.
As the world’s largest and most influential audiovisual and digital fair, MIPCOM attracts TV elite from more than 100 countries and regions every year, and, in recent years, more than 20,000 representatives of the industry have gathered in Cannes to focus on new ideas related to TV content presentation.
When visitors first stepped into the joint exhibition area, they were immediately gripped by the introduction and posters about "AI Mission" (Season 2), an original large-scale science and technology challenge show co-hosted by China Central Television (CCTV) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
On the evening of October 15, the second season of the program was presented at the opening reception as the most important part of a series of activities conducted by China as a country of honor at this year’s MIPCOM, showcasing some of China's accumulated scientific and technological wisdom on the world stage.
In this year's MIPCOM, "AI Mission" (Season 2) visitors swarmed around the exhibition booth with its unique model of Man vs Machine, cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology, and rich and varied stage expressions. The key players in the overseas copyright markets, including Amazon, also gravitated to this show.
This was the first time that a Chinese original science and technology show model has been exhibited at MIPCOM in regard to the presentation of domestic science and technology TV programs.
A Japanese representative was very optimistic, saying: "‘AI Mission’ links artificial intelligence technology with ordinary viewers, and we can see the most superb human skills, which is very attractive to me."
The high audience reputation and excellent ratings accumulated from "AI Mission" (Season 1, 2) have boosted confidence of China penetrating overseas copyright markets in an outstanding way.
As the MIPCOM country of honor, China gathered together a total of about 400 representatives, 50 film and television companies to present its outstanding achievements.
There are around a dozen activities, jointly sponsored by China’s State Council Information Office and the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT), including promotional meetings, forums, social receptions and displays, dazzling visitors with rich content and strong lineup.
On the afternoon of October 15, Fan Weiping, deputy director of the SARFT, toured the various booths of the exhibition. At an evening reception, with the theme of "Wonderful China, Source of Stories”, he declared: “People in the global television industry need to pay attention to the high-quality TV works in China and the stories that are happening in China."
He went on: “From the theme and content, AI Mission is dedicated to focusing on the common topic of humanity with an international vision and telling a good Chinese story with science and technology.”
Among the various programs, a Chinese painting robot shows off its wonderful painting to be tested by Qi Huijuan, granddaughter of Qi Baishi, a great master of traditional Chinese painting, and lip-language recognition technology will "decipher" the silent world of deaf and dumb children.
