Silk Road International Expo Information: China (Shaanxi)-Malaysia Economic and Trade Cooperation Fair was Held in Xi'an

On May 11, one of the activities of host country of the 3rd Silk Road International Expo, the China (Shaanxi)-Malaysia Economic and Trade Cooperation Fair was held in Xi'an. Zainuddin Yehiya, the Malaysian ambassador and Datuk to China, Ishan, deputy secretary-general of Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry, and Chen Guoqiang, deputy governor of Shaanxi Province attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

Chen Guoqiang said that Sino-Malaysian friendship has a long history and will remain unshakable and become even firmer as time goes by. The two countries are not only close neighbors facing each other across the sea, but are also good friends and partners with mutual trust, mutual respect, and win-win cooperation. With the in-depth promotion of“Belt and  Road” initiative and international capacity cooperation, the economic and trade exchanges between Shaanxi and Malaysia have continued to deepen and the cooperation has yielded fruitful results. In the year of 2017, total volume of foreign trade between Shaanxi and Malaysia reached 483 million dollars. dollars, an increase of 41.9%; Up to now, Malaysia has invested 50 projects in Shaanxi with contractual foreign investment of 146 million dollars. Shaanxi Province has 5 investment projects in Malaysia with a total investment of 293 million dollars.

Chen Guoqiang said that as the starting point of the ancient Silk Road, today's Shaanxi is making full use of location and transportation advantages, space and market advantages, talent and resource advantages, environment and cultural advantages, and striving to build the transport trade logistics center, international capacity cooperation center, science and technology education center, international cultural tourism center, and Silk Road finance center on the "Belt and Road" . In the future, Shaanxi will continue to vigorously support excellent enterprises within the province to make investment and cooperation in Malaysia, and also hope that friends from all walks of life in Malaysia can actively participate in the opening up of Shaanxi, and carry out more extensive and close cooperation with Shaanxi to promote complementarities and realize mutual benefit.

According to reports, as one of the activities of the guest country of the 3rd Silk Road International Expo, the conference was hosted by the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Malaysian International Trade and Industry, and co-organized by Shaanxi Provincial Department of Commerce, the Education Department of Shaanxi Provincial Government, the Shaanxi Provincial Tourism Development Committee, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority and the Malaysian Foreign Trade Development Authority.

The conference consisted of four parallel sessions including the main venue and "Malaysia's Investment Hot Spot", "Malaysia Headquarter Economy and E-Commerce", "China Shaanxi-Malaysia Higher Education Exchange Conference", and "Malaysia-China Health Care Tourism". More than 30 companies from Malaysia and more than 200 enterprises from Shaanxi Province attended the conference. Representatives of some leading enterprises such as Shaanxi Construction Engineering Group made presentations and speeches. At the meeting, the companies of two parties carried out project docking in the areas of equipment manufacturing, e-commerce, foreign trade, tourism culture, medical rehabilitation, and higher education.
