5月26日，湖北省委常委會召開會議。會議強調，要把樹立和踐行正確政績觀貫徹到主題教育調查研究、推動發展、檢視整改、建章立制等各項工作中，繼續辦好全省市廳級主要領導幹部專題培訓班，教育引導廣大黨員幹部堅持實事求是、求真務實，堅決防止急功近利、急於求成、説和做“兩張皮”，不折不扣把黨中央決策部署落實到位。要全面梳理評估，對違反客觀規律大幹快上、舉債搞“半拉子工程”“形象工程”“面子工程”以及統計造假搞“虛假政績”等問題開展專項整治。

5月23日上午，新建合肥至武漢高鐵湖北段開工動員活動，在武漢天河機場高鐵站址舉行。

新建合肥至武漢高鐵湖北段，線路東起合肥，經六安、金寨、麻城、紅安至武漢，全長約330公里，總投資約793億元，其中湖北境內線路全長約163公里，總投資約400億元。
