From 2015 to 2018, the number of high-tech companies in Wuhan continued to increase dramatically, with an annual growth rate of more than 25 percent, according to the Wuhan Enterprise Development Report (2019), which was released on October 23.
Based on the same data source, in 2018, a total of 1,366 companies in Wuhan passed high-tech company identification (of which 923 were newly identified and 443 were re-identified), with a growth rate of 25.1 percent, bringing the total number to 3,536.
Previously, the number of high-tech enterprises in Wuhan jumped by 29.9 percent, 31.5 percent and 25.4 percent in 2017, 2016, and 2015, respectively. The existing high-tech enterprises in Wuhan accounted for 53.6 percent of the province’s total, which stood at the fourth among the 15 sub-provincial cities in the country, second only to Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Hangzhou.
