The third annual session of the 13th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference opened at 3 pm on May 21. Amid regular measures to prevent and control COVID-19, this year's session is set to conclude on May 27, four and half days shorter than previously planned. During the session, the number of plenary meetings and group meetings will be reduced.
President Xi Jinping said that the CPPCC, through effective efforts, should build itself into a key base to uphold and strengthen the Party's leadership over all areas of endeavor, a key platform to unite, educate and guide representatives of all ethnic groups and sectors with the Party's new theories, as well as a key channel to resolve disputes and build consensus on the common theoretical and political foundation.
