Developing a New Model of Major-Country Relations
Hi! Welcome to “About China”!
In today’s program, we will talk about ” Developing a New Model of Major-Country Relations”.
US President Donald Trump arrived in Beijing on November 8, kicking off a three-day state visit to China.
Between China and the United States Meeting with Barack Obama of the United States at the Annenberg Retreat in California in June 2013, President Xi Jinping of China proposed building a new model of major-country relations. This new model, in his words, boils down to three principles: no conflict or confrontation, mutual respect, mutually beneficial cooperation.
(a) no conflict or confrontation, which is a prerequisite; (b) mutual respect, which provides the basis for healthy major-country relations; and (c) mutually beneficial cooperation, which provides the means to turn this vision into a reality.
