大別山，是紅軍的故鄉，將軍的搖籃。自1921年中國共産黨誕生到1949年新中國成立，位於湖北、河南、安徽三省邊界的大別山區先後分別爆發了黃麻起義、商城起義和六霍起義，孕育了著名的鄂豫皖革命根據地。在長達28年的歷史風雨中，無數革命先烈憑藉堅定的信仰，堅守大別山，確保革命紅旗不倒、薪火相傳。用鮮血和生命凝結了以“堅守信念、胸懷全局、團結一心、勇當前鋒”為主要內涵的大別山精神。
