2016年12月30日，國務院辦公廳發佈通知，2017年3月31日前先行停止一批象牙定點加工單位和定點銷售場所加工銷售象牙及製品活動。
2017年12月29日，中國國家林業局聯合中國野生動物保護協會、國際公益組織野生救援等機構，聯合發佈了公益廣告。
象牙製品十分昂貴，昂貴的不是它的價格，而是背後一條條大象的生命。我國現已實施象牙禁貿，以法律的名義，讓象牙不再是商品。
