  四分之一個世紀的回顧

  中央美院首屆油畫研修班研究展開幕在即

  中央美院油畫係由江豐院長倡議于1982年開辦了首屆研修班,學制兩年,學員由因文革失學但在全國美展獲獎的青年畫家與各地美術院校教師兩部分組成。25年後的今天,不少人白髮蒼蒼,更有四位同學已經作古。大部分同學堅持藝術探索,成為各有成就的畫家、教授或美術學院的主要領導。三月十日二十多位同學將從全國各地,甚至美國、法國、德國、加拿大與澳大利亞匯聚到中國美術館,向公眾展示他們畢業迄今的成果。他們邀請當年的老師前來點評,同時也展示老師們的部分作品。這是為什麼展覽取名為《師承與修行》

  這屆學員畢業的次年,黃山見證了中國油畫研討會的盛況。同一年,更年輕一代的“八五新潮”拉開序幕。老新數代藝術家的互相切磋與激勵,開拓了僅有百年曆史的中國油畫園地。如今,中國當代繪畫已經成為國際矚目的熱點所在。本次展覽提供了一個範本,揭示了中國油畫是如何從文革之後的復蘇走到今日之輝煌的。

  A Quarter Century Retrospective:

  An Exhibition of the First Oil Painting Research Class of the Central Academy of Fine Arts

  In 1982, the Central Academy of Fine Arts introduced a two-year graduate program for oil painting at the suggestion of its director Jiang Feng. The class consisted of two groups: 1) young artists whose formal education had been deprived by the Cultural Revolution but who had won awards at national art exhibitions; 2) teachers at various provincial art academies. Twenty five years have passed since this first class graduated, many of them already have white hairs, and four alumni have already passed away. Most members of the class continued their creative pursuits and became accomplished artists, professors, and leaders of art academies. On March 10, about two dozen alumni—traveling from all over China as well as the U.S., France, Germany, Canada, and Australia—will reunite at the National Art Museum of China and present to the public their works since graduation. They have invited their teachers from the time to comment on and critique their works. The teachers will also be exhibiting some works of their own. Thus he exhibition is entitled “Apprenticeship and Cultivation.”

  In 1985, the year after this class graduated, an oil painting conference was held in Huangshan, coinciding with the emergence of the ’85 New Wave, comprising of even younger artists. The mutual learning and encouragement between several generations of artists have developed the field of oil painting, which has had only 100 years of history in China. Today, contemporary Chinese painting has attracted worldwide attention. This exhibition provides a case study of the journey that Chinese oil painting has traveled from resuscitation from the Cultural Revolution to its current splendor.
